Course 3: Mathematics: Intro to Computer Science (COSC 120) Professor Soumyottam Chatterjee

Throughout this course, it was difficult for me to learn what was being taught since the class was online and the professor did have a heavy accent. However, I was able to somewhat learn about coding in java and the specific words or symbols needed so the code could work. All the assignments consisted of a proposed problem and I had to figure out how to code it to solve that problem. For example, a coding assignment was to provide a four digit number as an input to see whether it was an Armstrong number. An Armstrong number is an integer with four digits is said to be a four-digit narcissistic number if the sum of the fourth powers equal itself. This assignment was really the basis of learning code and I learned something new like what’s an armstrong number or the inputs and outputs of coding. I picked this assignment for my selection because it made me want to learn more about coding and all the problems that could be solved or not solved with coding.
